Do you ignore it? Do you rationalize or minimize it? Or maybe, you amplify it? Do you have a go-to modality for help? Do you have creative & effective movement & awareness-based solutions for pain?
Our culture is one in which embodied, somatic experience is neither examined nor prioritized. And in our western culture this lack of exploration of an integral element of human experience has thus never had an opportunity to mature to be the wellspring of resiliency that nature, or g-d, intended. Especially when accident or injury happens. As a long-time practitioner and clinician of the embodiment work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, I am certain that you hold the answers for eliminating pain, and disease, and that you have the tools within yourself to recover your vitality and life force. This is an exploration into the community of self. What do I mean by “community of the self”? This is the physical, emotional, cognitive, mental, spiritual parts acting in an integrated experience of ‘myself’.
I am witness to the unfortunate phenomenon, based on years of clinical practice, that this integration is incomplete and immature as long as we look outside of our ‘community of self’ for solutions to embodiment problems.
I will lead you through a sequence of 5-6 movement ‘lessons’ based on a theme. The movement explorations are fun and designed to invite a fresh awareness and curiosity for movement. They are designed to restore your resiliency for effortless physical action. The movement lesson environment is similar to that in which you first learned your motor milestones! This learning environment is infused with novelty, curiosity, enthusiasm, and variation.
All lessons will be done lying on the floor. Chairs will be available.
The first part of the workshop will be meeting the group and communicating your goals for the day. I will lead the group through 2-3 movement lessons in the morning with short in-between breaks for rest and drink. Lunch break will be 70 minutes, for plenty of time to stroll the grounds, meditate in secluded locations and/or connect with participants. The afternoon will resume with 2-3 additional movement lessons. I will wrap up the day with comments and questions. Movement lessons last anywhere from 30 minutes to 70 minutes.
From high performers to those with neuro-movement challenges, all are welcome. Regardless of symptom or diagnosis, regardless of the degree, intensity, or chronic nature of injury, trauma, or challenge, you can all expect deep & lasting shifts in posture, balance, flexibility, pain relief & vitality. You will leave the day with somatic strategies when encountering old familiar patterns, and through this new understanding, have the tools to respond in an entirely new way.
Please join me in this remarkable opportunity for lasting relief and improvement.
